Juhana Marttinen Architects / Projects / Penttilänranta bridge in Joensuu

The project is a wooden pedestrian drawbridge reaching 140 meters over the river. The bridge is a modern, spectacular landmark while not being too high in the scenery. Lights have been integrated into the glulam beams.

The lifting system is based on a counterweight and high-strength offshore cable, creating a dramatic impression when the bridge opens.
